Sovjet-style Svalbard Coin · #10100
“Shine on you crazy diamond”: 15 minutes of fame were not sufficient for Vladimir Lenin; he wanted to turn the world upside-down. And for a while he nearly succeeded. Be that as it may: Leningrad was, and St. Petersburg remains, the centre for the minting of Russian coins. So, this one´s for you, comrade. And the portrait on the averse of the coin? Oh yes, it is based on a photograph of bust situated in the Russian city of Barentsburg in Svalbard to this very day.
